Naturally Ellagic Acid itself is not present in plants. Nevertheless, polymers of Gallic acid and hexahydroxydipenoyl (HHDP) are connected to glucose centers to form compounds known as ellagitannins. An HHDP group is formed when two Gallic acid groups are linked side by side within a tannin molecule.
